Like the first visit of Bruno Mars back in 2011, the March 22 performance of Bruno and his crew was a great success. Filipino fans trooped to the Mall of Asia Arena and they were not disappointed. Bruno performed in front of a standing room only crowd; the place was really filled. That all tickets were sold out weeks ago didn’t stop Filipinos from seeing their beloved music idol perform live on stage.

Bruno promised to return ‘very, very soon’, and fans will once again hold him to that. Well, he kept his 2011 promise of return, so Filipinos will just have to wait when his next visit would be scheduled again.

The Philippine stopover was part of Bruno’s ‘Moonshine Jungle’ Tour, which promotes his latest album of the same name.

Bruno is half-Filipino and he mentions that performing on Philippine soil meant so much to him. Being Filipino and seeing ‘his people’ right in front of him made his performing take on a deeper meaning. Bruno’s mother, Bernadette Hernandez (who passed away already) is pure Filipino and had only moved to Honolulu in her childhood.

Bruno (Peter Gene Hernandez by birth) treated his fans to a rendition of his 2010 hit song “Just the Way You Are.” A favorite song in the Philippines, rare would be a person in the country who wouldn’t know the melody and the lyrics (especially of the chorus) of that song.

Bruno thanked his fans who were really attentive and supportive all thru the night. Clearly, the twenty-eight year old Grammy Award-winning artist did all to please his Filipino fans. All through the night, Bruno would make reference to his Fil-Am ancestry. The concert delivered sixteen songs and Bruno rendered a mix from all of his albums (‘Doo-Woops & Hooligans’, ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’). Mars sang ‘Moonshine’ first, then followed on with ‘Natalie’ and ‘Treasure’. He performed his own version of ‘Billionaire’, a hit song of Travie McCoy, which Bruno actually co-wrote with him. He also sang ‘Money (That’s What I Want)’, a 1960’s song.

Bruno will be performing in other parts of Asia. See http://www.musotickets.com/bruno-mars-concert-tickets-tour-dates/ for more info.
